Augmentation mammoplasty

Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure aimed at improving the size and shape of the breast due to several reasons. The body contour for personal reasons that a woman thinks that her breasts are too small, correct a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy, to balance a difference in breast size or reconstructive procedure following breast cancer surgery. Inserting an implant behind each breast can increase one or more sizes.

Breast augmentation can enhance your appearance and self-esteem but not necessarily ideal nor will its image that people treated differently, so the ideal candidate is one who seeks to improve its appearance but not perfection.

PROSTHESES

A breast implant is a silicone envelope filled with silicone gel or a salt water solution. There are special prostheses for women at high risk of breast cancer, filled with radiopaque substances, but their long-term outcome is less verified than with other fillers.
The breast implant is a safe procedure, but like any operation, there are risks. Capsular contracture, occurs if the scar or capsule around the implant begins to harden, excessive stress can cause the breast to harden, you can still be treated in different ways. Always consult your surgeon.
Occasionally the implants can rupture, usually due to trauma, resulting in a change in breast shape and firmness in that market would require further intervention.

SURGERY

In the initial consultation evaluates the condition and the surgeon should explain the surgical techniques most appropriate for your particular case, based on the firmness of your skin and your breast conditions. Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia because although some surgeons perform it under local anesthesia or sedation, is not the most advisable not sleep because the breast completely.
The method of inserting and positioning the implant depends on the anatomy of the patient and the recommendations of the specialist. The incision can be performed either in the crease sub mammary, around the areola or axilla. Through the incision a pocket is created behind the breast or under the pectoralis major muscle and the implant is centered over the nipple. The operation takes about two hours and drainage tubes are left for several days after surgery.
After the operation, tells the patient the type of fastener to be used and the sutures are removed approximately two weeks, but the breast will take some weeks to recover completely normal appearance.
