The fight against cancer in poor countries need not be expensive

Many cancers that pose the greatest burden on low-income nations could be treated generically manufactured drugs at affordable prices. The growing impact of cancer in developing countries could be reduced without drugs and expensive equipment, scientists said on Monday, but requires a similar global effort to combat HIV.

In a study in Lancet, scientists from the United States, who have formed a Global Task Force on Greater Access to Cancer Treatment in Developing Countries (GTF.CCC by its acronym in English), noted that cancer is currently killer in poor nations. Read the rest of this entry »

Understanding Breast Cancer Risk

When estimating the baseline risk of a healthy woman developing breast cancer, the statistic often quoted is 1 out of 8. This often leads to much anxiety, since a 12.5% risk of developing cancer is frighteningly high. However, this is a cumulative risk over one’s lifetime, and half of this risk actually occurs after a woman reaches the age of 65 years.

The following represents a broad overview of factors associated with breast cancer risk, methods to measure breast cancer risk, and options available to women at high risk of developing the disease. Cancer research: Green tea prevents cancer of the blood

Green tea may reduce the risk of developing certain types of blood cancer, but this one should drink at least five cups a day.  Scientists from the Medical School at Tohoku University (Japan) have been known that green tea reduces the risk of premature death and of heart disease. The latest research has revealed yet another beneficial effect of this drink.

The success of the treatment of colon cancer

The success of the treatment of colon cancer greatly depends on what stage of development failed to detect disease. In the diagnosis of bowel cancer guideline still holds koloskopii method. The purpose of the test is to identify a specific blood protein that in patients with colorectal cancer occurs more frequently and in greater concentrations than in healthy people.
